TV Mounting in Pasadena, TX

A TV on the wall frees up floor space and keeps it out of reach of kids and pets, and in Pasadena's compact postwar ranch houses, where living rooms are often modest and every square foot counts, it can make a room feel noticeably bigger. Newer two-story homes south of Spencer Highway and out toward Fairmont Parkway often have big family rooms with vaulted ceilings and stone or brick fireplaces where homeowners want a large screen up high. Either way, a mounted TV has to be done right. A modern screen is heavy and the leverage of a tilting or articulating mount puts real force on the wall, so the mount has to land in solid framing or masonry, not just drywall.

We start by agreeing with you on height, viewing angle and where the cables and devices will live. Then we locate the studs, or the right anchor points in brick, and mount a bracket rated for your TV's size and weight, checking it's level before the screen goes up. We route cables neatly, either in a paintable surface raceway or inside the wall with a recessed power and cable kit, and connect and test your soundbar, streaming devices and other components. Our licensed electricians handle any new outlet placed behind the TV. We finish by wiping down the screen, clearing packaging and vacuuming any dust.

What this covers

  • Wall mounting into wood studs
  • Brick, stone and fireplace mounting
  • Fixed, tilting and full-motion mounts
  • In-wall cable concealment kits
  • Surface raceway cable management
  • Soundbar and speaker mounting
  • Streaming device and component setup
  • New outlet behind the TV, connected by our licensed electricians
  • Packaging removal and cleanup
A note from around here: Pasadena's 1950s and 1960s ranch homes in Golden Acres, Deepwater and Kingsdale often have plaster-texture walls and odd stud spacing, while 1980s and newer homes near Fairmont Parkway tend to have brick fireplaces and vaulted family rooms.

How a TV mounting visit usually goes

Plan the Placement

We agree on height, angle and where the devices and cables will go, and confirm the mount suits your TV's size and weight.

Find Solid Support

We locate studs or masonry anchor points and check for wiring and plumbing in the wall before drilling.

Mount and Hang

The bracket is fastened securely and leveled, the TV is attached and checked for tilt, swivel and clearance.

Route, Connect and Clean Up

Cables are concealed or tidied, devices are connected and tested, and the area is cleaned and the packaging removed.

Weather plays into TV mounting here more than you'd think. Power outages and surges after storms like Beryl have taken out plenty of TVs and streaming devices in the Houston area, so we often recommend a good surge protector at the device location and leave room for it in the cable plan. In homes on pier and beam in the older parts of North Pasadena, walls can be slightly out of plumb from settling, so we level the mount to the room rather than to a crooked wall line. And for screens on exterior walls, we make sure in-wall kits don't punch through the vapor barrier in a way that lets humid air condense inside the wall.

What shapes the price in Pasadena

TV mounting price depends on the size and weight of the TV, the type of mount, the wall surface and how the cables are handled. A mid-size TV on a fixed mount into drywall and studs is the simplest. Brick and stone take longer to drill and anchor. Full-motion and pull-down mounts take more setup and adjustment than fixed or tilting ones. Hiding cables in the wall adds time and materials, and adding a new outlet behind the TV is a separate electrical item. Mounting several TVs, or a TV plus a soundbar and shelving, in one visit is the most economical way to do it.

Neighbors often ask

Can you mount a TV over my brick fireplace?

Yes. Many Pasadena homes have brick or stone fireplaces, and they can be a solid mounting surface if done carefully. We drill into the brick or the mortar joints with masonry bits, use sleeve anchors or other rated masonry fasteners, and run cables down the side or through a raceway colored to blend in. We'll also talk with you about height, since a TV above a fireplace often ends up higher than is comfortable to watch; a pull-down mount can solve that.

Can you hide the wires inside the wall?

In most interior walls, yes. We install a recessed in-wall kit that runs power and low-voltage cables through the wall cavity behind the TV and down to a plate near your devices. Exterior walls with insulation and fire blocking take more care, and brick or plaster walls may make a surface raceway the better choice. We'll show you the options and the tradeoffs before we start.

What height should my TV be?

For most living rooms, the center of the screen should be close to eye level when you're seated, typically around 40 to 45 inches from the floor. In bedrooms or when the TV goes above a fireplace, a higher placement with a downward tilt helps. We'll hold the mount or a template on the wall with you before we drill so you can see the height in your actual room.

Can you mount a TV on a patio or outdoor kitchen wall?

Yes. Outdoor TVs here face heat, humidity, wind and the occasional storm, so we use outdoor-rated mounts and stainless or coated fasteners, mount into solid framing or masonry, and keep the screen under the cover of the patio roof. A weather-rated TV or a protective cover is the best way to make it last through a Pasadena summer.
